Two problems with a JVC AV-20020 television

  • I've spent an hour with the manual, the remote, and the on-screen menu, and cannot correct two problems that appear to have occurred without warning on a JVC AV-20020 television. One morning a digital clock appeared in blue in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. I want to get rid of it, but have no clue as to how. Also, the set has begun to turn itself on and off at specific hours of the day and night, as if a timer has been set. Again, I want to stop it, but can't. The user's guide is a calamity, and trying every button on the screen does nothing. I'm looking for directions in plain English.

  • tcovert-ga: You've gotten me halfway there, solving the timer problem for me. Unfortunately, the remote is built by Radio Shack and does not have a DISPLAY button. And I can't find it using the menu on the set itself. Any other ideas? Even if we can't fix both problems, I invite you to post what you've given me so far as an answer so I can pay you. mccook-ga

  • The Radio Shack remote does not have a specific model number that I can tell. The manual says "Cat. No. 15-1993." And it's a 4-in-one Smart Light-Up Remote Control"

  • RadioShack 4-in-One Smart Light-Up Remote Control Owners Manual: http://support.radioshack.com/support_video/doc64/64717.pdf Note this section: ..."USING THE SMART TECHNOLOGY Your RadioShack 4-in-One Smart Light-Up Remote Control can ?learn? up to 16 features from your original remote control using Smart Technology. Its four smart keys (1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s) can be programmed to perform functions from your original remote that are not already available on your 4-in-One Smart Light-Up. Example: Your original remote may have a button called MENU. Unfortunately, the 4-inone Smart Light-Up remote does not include this feature. But with Smart Technology, you can program one of the four smart keys to perform the functions of your original remote?s MENU key...." OR: Call 1-888-284-8735 for technical support. If you are able to get the clock display turned off from using this guide, please update and let me know so I can post this in the Answer box. ~~Cynthia Search terms: "4-in-One Smart Light-Up Remote Control"
